Global Online Protection Awards launched
We’re extremely proud to be part of the founding team to launch the Excellence in Global Online Protection Awards.
Now in their second year, the awards recognise and celebrate the incredible work underway across the world to make the internet a safer place for young people.
Online child sexual abuse is a growing epidemic, that is rising at an exponential rate. Childlight’s ‘Into the Light’ Index 2024, showed that 10 cases of abuse are reported every second and 300 million+ children have been affected by abusive behaviours online.
This is something that the police service cannot stop alone. It takes a whole system approach to respond, from education in schools, to preventative technology and offender management and rehabilitation.
The Excellence in Global Online Protection Awards, founded by Extra Mile PR founder, and Simon Bailey, former NPCC Lead for Child Protection, and Prof Sam Lundrigan, Director of the International Policing and Public Protection Research Institute (IPPPRI), seek to highlight the incredible work underway in this field.

2024 saw nominations coming in from a range of public and private sector organisations and nominations for 2025 are now being accepted.
It is free to apply online here, until Friday 4th April. We can’t wait to learn more about the important work underway to protect children.
