A bumper weekend of coverage for Team BRIT
Suffolk PR firm, Extra Mile PR, has been providing communications services to Team BRIT for 2.5 years, supporting them with a range of communications requirements from media liaison to copy writing, PR event handling and generating regular media coverage.
Team BRIT rarely has a ‘quiet’ time when it comes to news. It’s a team of disabled drivers that is aiming to make history by becoming the first ever all-disabled team to race in Le Mans.
Its drivers are quite incredible, each with a unique and inspirational story to tell.
Extra Mile supports the team in sharing these stories, whether that’s inviting press to races and events, supporting sponsor events to help people understand what their help means, or placing features within newspapers, magazines or industry titles.
At the beginning of June, the team raced at two different tracks – Oulton Park and Croft. Extra Mile pitched the team’s story to regional media around each track and inviting along print and broadcast journalists. Teams like Team BRIT don’t visit tracks every week, so for journalists, it’s a fantastic story on their patch.
The Northern Echo sent a team over to cover the BMW 116 trophy race at Croft and ITV Central sent a crew to report on the team racing in the Britcar Championship. Alongside this, Team Founder Dave Player was interviewed on BBC Radio Tyne Tees. Two days after the races, an Academy Track Day was held at Bedford, and Extra Mile PR arranged for primetime news programme, BBC Breakfast to attend and cover the story of this unique driving school for disabled drivers.
The BBC Breakfast programme airs on Saturday June 22nd, once again placing the team in the national spotlight.
A bumper weekend of coverage and a great example of the power of Team BRIT’s story.
